Theresa O’Grady was born and brought up in Luton, England. She now lives in Aclare, Co. Sligo.
Theresa along with her two brothers James (fiddle and pipes) and Ciaran (concertina) have many All Ireland titles to their names.
“The O’Gradys”, as they were more commonly known in their early music careers, were privileged to have learned their music from, and played with great musicians including Annette Caulfield, Tommy Keane, Paddy Hayes and Brian Rooney to name but a few.
Such exposure from a young age has been a great asset to Theresa as she is now counted as one of the finest female banjo players in the country.
Theresa is one of the founding members of the Sligo based group “The Border Collies” can be credited with the famous “banjo track” on the album “Unleashed”.
She has recently released her debut solo banjo album ‘Banjo’ista’ to wide acclaim, under the Raelach Records label.
