Fiodhna Gardiner


Fíodhna is from Ballyporeen, Co. Tipperary. Influenced by her father, accordionist Bobby Gardiner, Fíodhna was drawn to the tin whistle and later, low whistle, having listened to players such as Joannie Madden and Davy Spillane. She has featured on film, television and radio programmes in Ireland and abroad. She has co-featured on two family CDs entitled ‘The High Level’ and ‘Tipperary’s Hills for Me’.

While living in the United Arab Emirates, Fíodhna played whistles with the UAE’s Irish Traditional Group, ‘Inis Oirr’ (2004-2011), providing entertainment in a variety of venues across the Middle East.

She has one solo recording credit titled ‘Air Time’ which includes traditional Irish, Scottish and newly composed airs and featuring the musicians – Bobby Gardiner, Seamie O’Dowd, Cathy Jordan, Garry Ó Bhriain, Mairtin O’ Connor and Liam Kelly.

Having moved from Abu Dhabi to Limerick in 2011, Fíodhna now lives in Killaloe/Ballina, Co. Clare with her husband, Pádraig and son, Ruán.
